VIENNA - Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi will travel to Teheran this week for high-level talks with the Iranian government.

The two sides will hold technical discussions on all aspects related to the joint statement agreed by both sides in March 2023 to step up cooperation to expedite the resolution of outstanding safeguards issues, according to the IAEA on Sunday.

The IAEA said that the meetings in Teheran will build on Grossi's discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September.

"It is essential that we make substantive progress in the implementation of the Joint Statement agreed with Iran in March 2023," Grossi said.
