Chilly Hong Kong sees autumn's lowest temperatures on Wednesday

Hong Kong was chilly on Wednesday with the recorded minimum temperature plunging to 17.5 degrees Celsius, the lowest so far this autumn.

According to the Hong Kong Observatory, a northeast monsoon was affecting the coast of southern China, while a broad band of rain and clouds covered the region.

As of 12:30 pm, the city's average temperature was 18 C.

The HKO said Hong Kong will be slightly cooler in the afternoon and evening of Wednesday. The rainy weather will continue with strong winds offshore and on high ground.

On Thursday morning, the weather will remain cold, but daytime temperatures will rise slightly. Windy weather is forecast this weekend and early next week.
