HONG KONG – The enchanting Hong Kong WinterFest is returning to the city. From Friday until Jan 1, a delightful Christmas Town – 30 percent larger than last year’s event – will feature over a hundred gift decorations and various photo spots at the West Kowloon Cultural District.
A 20-meter-tall Christmas tree will be lit up in the town, serving as a giant canvas for displaying winter festive projections.
The festival also features four fireworks shows, each lasting about 10 minutes. The first show will start at 7:30 pm on Friday, followed by three at 8 pm every day from Dec 24-26.
A Christmas market will also be held from Friday to Dec 8. It will offer holiday delicacies and Christmas gifts from Dec 12 to Dec 29.
Sustainable fashion
The Fashion Summit (HK) 2024, set to be held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum on Nov 26, is bringing together global fashion designers to explore opportunities and exchange insights on the latest sustainable fashion trends, technology, best practices, and solutions.
This year’s summit will set up the first “Fashion Summit Lifestyle Pop-up shop” in a shopping mall in Hong Kong. Designers are expected to devote their creativity and designs to three fashion shows to appeal the sustainable consumers.
According to Statista, the revenue in Hong Kong’s fashion market is projected to reach $2.31 billion in 2024, with most revenue generated in China.
S.F. Holding listing in HK
Shenzhen-based courier company S.F. Holding is set to be listed on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing on Nov 27.
According to its prospectus, approximately 45 percent of the raised funds will be used to enhance international and cross-border logistics capabilities, 35 percent to optimize its Chinese logistics network, 10 percent for technology research and development and digital solutions, and the rest for working capital and general corporate purposes.
After debuting on the mainland’s stock market in 2017, it has become one of China’s largest logistics service providers. Its logistics network covers all cities of China and more than 200 countries and regions worldwide.
Charm of Cantonese opera
The ninth Yangcheng International Cantonese Opera Festival, running from Nov 20-30 in Guangzhou, has gathered more than 3,000 Cantonese opera masters and new artists from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan as well as the Chinese mainland – primarily Guangdong province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Apart from 47 Cantonese Opera performances and 11 films, the event features dozens of plays, opera-and-music joint performances, exhibitions, carnivals, lectures, and one-day tours.
