BEIJING - China has lodged solemn representations with the United States over its latest control measures on semiconductor exports and sanctions on Chinese companies, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Noting that China has lodged solemn representations with the US over maliciously suppressing China's scientific and technological progress, spokesperson Lin Jian told a daily news briefing that China always firmly opposes the US overstretching the concept of national security, abusing export controls and imposing illegal unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction on Chinese companies.
"Such practices seriously undermine the international economic and trade order, disrupt the stability of the global production and supply chain, and undermine the interests of all countries," Lin said.
The spokesman also noted that China has urged the US to respect the laws of the market economy and the principle of fair competition, and China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its own security and development interests.

On Monday, the Ministry of Commerce said in an online statement that China has pledged to take firm actions to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its businesses following the US' new chip export restrictions.
China has noticed that the latest US measures impose tighter controls on semiconductor manufacturing equipment, storage chips and related items. They have also added an additional 136 Chinese entities into the export control entity list and extended long-arm jurisdiction, disrupting trade between China and third-party countries, said a ministry spokesperson.
These actions represent a clear example of economic coercion and anti-market practices, said the commerce official, after the US Department of Commerce announced its updated semiconductor export controls on Monday.
The spokesperson said that China firmly opposes these actions adding that the US acts inconsistently with its statements, overextending the concept of national security, misusing export controls and engaging in unilateral bullying tactics.
The semiconductor industry operates within a highly globalized framework, and the US' misuse of control measures severely disrupts normal international economic and trade exchanges, the spokesperson added.
