TAIYUAN - China's northern city of Taiyuan is to host an international team badminton tournament from December 27 to 29, organizers announced on Wednesday.

Every participating team is asked to field two players from the top 100 world ranking, or as many players who had finished among the top 12 in major Chinese national tournaments.

Zhang Changqin, Taiyuan's deputy sports director, said the event is set to inspire the city's travel industry and people's enthusiasm for badminton.
