Hong Kong exports volume up 5.8% in first 10 months

HONG KONG - The volume of Hong Kong’s total goods exports increased by 5.8 percent year-on-year during the first 10 months of 2024, according to official data released on Monday.

The volume of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's total goods imports also rose 3.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Census and Statistics Department.

In October 2024, the volume of Hong Kong's total exports of goods and imports of goods increased by 0.3 percent and 1.5 percent respectively over October 2023, it added.

Prices of exports and imports also increased 3.4 percent and 3.0 percent year-on-year for the month.

Comparing the three-month period ending October 2024 with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of total exports of goods and imports of goods decreased by 4.5 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.

In terms of the export performance by main destinations, total export volume to Vietnam grew 29.9 percent in October, while the volume to the Chinese mainland (+4.4 percent) and the United States (1.0 percent) also increased.

On the other hand, the total export volume to Taiwan region (-3.4 percent) and India (-34.0 percent) decreased.
