HONG KONG – Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu has celebrated Christmas with families from the community living room project.

“Today is Christmas. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!” the CE wrote in a social media post on Wednesday, sharing a number of photos from the celebration.

Saying that his administration had adopted a strategy of targeted poverty alleviation, he said the measures taken to this end include setting up community living rooms to especially support households living in subdivided flats.

“My wife and I specially invited families from the Nam Cheong Community Living Room to attend a Christmas party at the Government House to share the joy of the festive season.”

They made Christmas wreaths, drawing and writing cards, and decorating the Christmas tree.

Lee thanked them for putting blessings on the Christmas tree and encouraging him to continue to work hard on improving people's livelihoods.

A choir group from the Hong Kong University of Science also joined the event to sing Christmas carols.

“I am very happy to hear from parents and children in the community living room that the community living room can provide extra space and improve their quality of life,” said the CE.
