A team of 146 mediators have been appointed to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Mediator Panel 2024, which aims to bring the three regions closer together.
The make-up of the panel was officially released on Monday. It is tasked with promoting mediation in the GBA, and enhancing the multifaceted dispute resolution mechanism in the area.
Among the members, 48 reside in Hong Kong, 49 in Macao, while the others reside in various GBA cities in Guangdong province.

They will be accredited at a ceremony to be held by the Department of Justice of Hong Kong government (DoJ).
The panel is jointly formulated by the legal departments of Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong province. It is approved by the Working Group on the GBA Mediation Platform and endorsed at the GBA Legal Departments Joint Conference.
The establishment of the panel implements the measure in the Action Plan on the Construction of Rule of Law in the GBA released in April by the DoJ.

Under the action plan, the department has proposed to establish the Hong Kong International Legal Talents Training Academy to attract and nurture more foreign-related legal talent in the GBA, and promote the establishment of a platform for GBA lawyers to empower systematic professional development.
