HONG KONG – Residents in some parts of Hong Kong reported feeling tremors after a magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck in the sea south of Shanwei in Guangdong on Friday afternoon, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
The epicenter has been located about 200 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong, at a depth of about 10 km, the forecaster said in a 3:15 pm special bulletin.
According to initial HKO analysis, the earthquake occurred at 2:40 pm.

It received over 10 locally felt reports of minor shaking lasting a few seconds.
On March 11 last year, people reported minor shaking after an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.0 struck Lantau Island.
