Malaysia, Japan pledge further cooperation in economy, technology

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia - Malaysia will cooperate with Japan on several economic and technology development projects, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Friday.

At a joint press briefing with Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who was in Malaysia for an official visit on Jan 9-10, Anwar said that the two leaders discussed ways to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, covering issues of trade and investment.

For his part, Ishiba expressed Japan's commitment to strengthen cooperation with Malaysia in disaster risk management.
