Chinese shuttlers maintain momentum in Malaysia Open quarters

KUALA LUMPUR - Chinese shuttlers laid down a marker in the Malaysia Open quarterfinals on Friday, knocking out their opponents with ease and advancing in all categories at the Axiata Arena.

In the men's singles, both China's shuttlers outplayed rivals representing Chinese Taipei, as Li Shifeng beat Chi Yu-yen 14-21, 21-13, 21-7, while his teammate Shi Yuqi overcame Chou Tien-chen 21-16, 19-21, 21-17.

Women's singles shuttler Wang Zhiyi knocked out Yeo Jia Min of Singapore 22-20, 21-16, while men's doubles duo Chen Boyang and Liu Yi outplayed Ben Lane and Sean Vendy of Britain 21-17, 21-17.

In the women's doubles, China's Jia Yifan/Zhang Shuxian, Li Yijing/Luo Xumin and Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning all made the last four.

Elsewhere, mixed doubles duo Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping also advanced into the semifinals.
