Xi extends congratulations on Australia Day

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday extended congratulations on Australia Day.

In a congratulatory message to Governor-General of Australia Samantha Mostyn, Xi said that with the joint efforts of both sides in the past year, China and Australia have kept up the momentum for the growth of their relations, delivering benefits to both nations.

Facts have shown that a sound, stable and constructive China-Australia relationship serves the common interests of both countries and peoples, and conforms to the historical trend of world peace, development and win-win cooperation, he said.

Xi said that he has always attached great importance to the development of bilateral relations, stands ready to work with Australia to bear in mind the fundamental interests of the two peoples and the common well-being of mankind, and upholds the principles of mutual respect, equal treatment, seeking common ground while shelving differences, and mutual benefit, so as to push for a more mature, stable and fruitful China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership.
