China sees over 14.36 million cross-border trips during CNY holiday

Border inspection authorities in China recorded more than 14.36 million cross-border trips during the recently concluded Spring Festival holiday, marking a 6.3 percent increase from the previous year, the National Immigration Administration said.

As many as 958,000 trips were made by foreigners, a 22.9 percent year-on-year increase, the NIA said in a news release on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, about 7.67 million trips were made by residents of the Chinese mainland, a 5 percent year-on-year increase, and more than 5.73 million trips were made by residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, reflecting a 5.6 percent year-on-year increase.

In addition, border inspection authorities inspected 525,000 vehicles crossing borders during the holiday, a 14.4 percent year-on-year increase, the NIA added.
