Russia targets Ukraine's gas infrastructure in overnight attack

KIEV - Russian forces struck Ukraine's energy system, including gas infrastructure, with drone and missile attacks overnight, Ukrainian authorities said Tuesday.

"As of this morning, the energy sector remains under attack," Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko wrote on Facebook.

The Regional Military Administration reported that nine settlements in the central Poltava region were left without gas supplies following the strikes.

Ukraine's state-run energy company Ukrenergo imposed power supply restrictions in the wake of the attack.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched cruise and ballistic missiles, along with drones, at Ukraine overnight.
