Hong Kong residents are expected to access the Chinese mainland’s high-speed railway system more conveniently with Shenzhen planning to build a high-speed train station in its Luohu District.
Under the plan, the new Luohu North station would be located near the Qingshuihe area -- about 10 kilometers from the Luohu Checkpoint, but much nearer than the Shenzhen North high-speed railway station.
The new station would serve as a comprehensive transportation hub along the Shenzhen-Shanwei High-Speed Railway network, with direct access to the planned Xili High-Speed Rail Station.

The project's exact opening timeline is yet to be decided, but the Shenzhen-Shanwei High-Speed Railway network, spanning more than a dozen stations in Shenzhen and Huizhou, will go into operation in 2027.
A new Luohu West Metro station is also in the pipeline linking the checkpoint with the new Luohu North high-speed train station.
In future, with direct connections to Luohu and Wenjindu checkpoints via Metro lines, Luohu North Station will provide Hong Kong residents with more convenient access to major cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and also serve mainland passengers arriving at Luohu bound for Hong Kong, an official of the Qingshuihe Headquarters new town development office said.
The official added that commercial development around Luohu North Station has begun and new bus routes will meet the transportation needs of residents.

Currently, Shenzhen Futian Railway Station is one of the most important hubs connecting Hong Kong with the mainland, and is close to Futian Checkpoint. Since the start of the Spring Festival travel season, the number of passengers traveling between the special administrative region and the mainland has exceeded three million, with an average daily volume of nearly 100,000 -- a 23-percent increase over the same period last year.
