Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.98 percent to 3,320.90 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.89 percent lower at 10,611.24 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.91 trillion yuan ($266.2 billion), down from 2.04 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks related to oil and gas exploitation and liquor led the gains, while those in the humanoid robot sector suffered major losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 3.82 percent to close at 2,170.39 points.
