Chinese shares close higher Tuesday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.22 percent to 3,324.21 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.28 percent higher at 10,679.44 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.48 trillion yuan ($206.3 billion), down from 1.62 trillion yuan the previous trading day.

Stocks in the military and semiconductor sectors led the gains, while those in solid-state battery and Chinese liquor suffered significant losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.29 percent to close at 2,190.08 points Tuesday.
