A cold turn

HONG KONG - Temperatures in Hong Kong's urban areas dropped to around 13 degrees Celsius around noon on Thursday, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories.

The Hong Kong Observatory said it expectd the mercury to drop further on Thursday evening and tomorrow. “The northeast monsoon is affecting the southern China coast,” the observatory said, reminding the public to be mindful of the weather, keep warm, and to take care of the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions.

It said temperatures were expected to rise progressively starting Saturday up to as high as 25°C by next Tuesday. Another warm maritime airstream is predicted to again bring humid and foggy conditions to coastal areas by the middle of next week, the forecaster added.
