BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.19 percent to 3,366.16 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.17 percent lower at 10,825.7 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.51 trillion yuan ($210.5 billion), down from 1.82 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks related to lab-grown diamond and medical businesses led the gains, while those in the enterprise resource planning sector suffered significant losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.25 percent to close at 2,199.88 points.
