SANAA - US airstrikes on Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah killed four people and wounded 13 others on Tuesday night, local health authorities said in a statement, revising an earlier death toll of two.

The statement from Houthi-controlled health authorities said the strikes hit the Amin Muqbil residential neighborhood. Civil Defence teams were searching for survivors amid the debris, it added.

Separately, residents told Xinhua that US airstrikes hit telecommunications infrastructure in Amran province, north of the capital Sanaa, without causing casualties.

The United States has intensified its military campaign against sites of the Houthi forces in Yemen, conducting 22 airstrikes across northern Yemen early Tuesday. The latest wave of strikes targeted eastern and southern areas of the capital, Sanaa, the Island of Kamaran in the Red Sea, and the oil-rich Marib province, according to reports from Houthi-run al-Masirah TV and local residents.

The current US air campaign, which began on March 15, reportedly aims to halt Houthi attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea, particularly those the group claims are linked to Israel. The Houthis said their attacks are aimed to pressure an end to the US-backed Israeli offensive in Gaza and allow humanitarian aid to return.

Despite persistent US airstrikes, the campaign has not deterred the Houthi group, which continues to attack American and Israeli-linked interests in the region.
