Hong Kong is gearing up to make the Easter break, from Friday to Monday, special for residents and tourists, and has organized a series of festive activities, suitable for all ages, alongside enhanced traffic and immigration arrangements for a smooth holiday experience.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the Ma Wan Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at Ma Wan’s Tung Wan Beach, featuring hunts for over 4,000 Easter eggs during different time slots, presenting participants with the opportunity to win more than 50,000 prizes in total — including chocolates, candies, cash vouchers, and Noah's Ark theme park tickets.

Live performances, booth games, and special offers from local restaurants await participants, who can also bring their pets with them to join in the fun.

Another event currently being held is the WestK FunFest 2025, organized by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, featuring a number of family-friendly art programs, including interactive performances, unique theater experiences, largescale outdoor art installations, admission-free shows, and hands-on workshops.

Egg-hunting activities will also take place at The Mills in Tsuen Wan and at Discovery Bay, while food lovers can indulge in the five-day Hong Kong International Food Tasting Festival 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, starting Friday.

With an estimated 6.04 million travelers expected to pass through land, sea, and air checkpoints between Thursday and Monday, the Immigration Department has deployed extra personnel to better handle the crowds, opening additional counters for faster processing.

The MTR Corp will add extra East Rail Line trains to Lok Ma Chau terminus — a station linking Shenzhen’s Futian checkpoint — on Friday morning and at noon for northbound travelers, and has bolstered its services on Monday evening for residents returning to Hong Kong.

The first Airport Express train from Hong Kong Station will depart earlier than usual, at 5:35 am, on Friday and Saturday.

There will also be 15 additional high-speed rail trains between Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei) and Hong Kong West Kowloon during the break, plus extra eight pairs of trains between Hong Kong and popular destinations such Guilin — a world-renowned resort in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region — Changsha, capital of Hunan province, and Guangdong’s Chaoshan station, to serve tour groups.

The Transport Department has warned of the potential for longer wait times for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) shuttle bus, and is advising travelers to consider traveling at off-peak times. Special traffic measures at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and Shenzhen Bay Port to accommodate additional public transport vehicles may also cause delays for those crossing the border by private car.
