China, Cambodia pledge cooperation for security, justice on global stage

PHNOM PENH - China and Cambodia have reaffirmed their commitment to working closely together to defend security and justice on the international stage.

The pledge was highlighted by Wang Wenbin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia, at a press conference on the fruitful outcomes of the two-day state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Cambodia, held at the embassy here this morning, adding that unilateralism is unacceptable to the Chinese people. As for Cambodia, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen has also affirmed that Cambodia and China will stand together to confront all forms of global challenges.

“The two sides have jointly safeguarded international security and justice,” said Wang. “They reaffirmed their commitment to jointly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, defend the international order based on international law, and protect the basic norms of international relations guided by the principles of the UN Charter.”

Both nations have jointly opposed unilateralism and all forms of protectionism in trade, and have worked together to become a force for peace and stability amid the current era of complex and unprecedented global changes, he underlined.

He further underlined that the achievements made during President Xi Jinping’s visit underscore China’s status as Cambodia’s strongest supporter and most reliable development partner. He added that the enduring friendship between the two countries remains unshakable.

Looking ahead, Wang expressed China’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Cambodia, building on the progress achieved during President Xi’s visit. He emphasised that the two countries will continue to strengthen their traditional friendship, promote the building of a community of shared future, contribute to building a community of shared future in their neighbouring countries and a shared future for mankind for the benefit of their peoples.
