COPENHAGEN - China's Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan and Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong claimed straight-game victories to secure their places in the quarterfinals of the women's and mixed doubles respectively at the BWF World Championships here on Thursday.
Playing the first match on Court 1 of the day, Chen and Jia defeated India's young shuttlers Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela 21-14, 21-9 to progress.
"We were well-prepared for this match. The opponents were strong and had their own distinctive style. Whenever we talked about them, we didn't need to mention names. Once we mentioned the Indian pair, we knew whom we were talking about. So before the match, we considered trying to give some pressure to avoid being overpowered," said Chen.

This is the sixth World Championships for Chen and Jia as a pair. They have won three titles - in 2017, 2021, and 2022, and are only one title shy of becoming the most decorated women's doubles pair at the worlds.
Their worst result at the World Championships so far is a quarterfinal finish.
"After this match, we have already achieved a result that will not be worse than our worst performance in the past. Now, all we need to do is to move forward," said Chen.
Another Chinese pair Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu defeated Dutch duo Kirsten de Wit and Alyssa Tirtosentono with a score of 21-13, 21-10
Her partner Jia added that they need to adjust their mindset and be prepared to face the challenges in the coming matches.

"The opponents played well in the first game, but at that time, we firmly executed our tactics, and the result turned out to be great," said Zheng.
"As the match went on, my feeling of attacking was getting better and better. In the beginning, it wasn't so smooth, but as the match progressed, I felt more relaxed with a better sense of space."
