ISTANBUL - Kenyan runner Ruth Chepngetich broke the women's half marathon world record here on Sunday, with a winning time of one hour, four minutes and two seconds, 29 seconds faster than the previous record.

The 26-year-old was followed across the line by Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw (1:04:40) and fellow Kenyan Hellen Obiri (1:04:51). This was the first time three women have finished a half marathon in under 65 minutes.
