CBA: Guangdong routs Qingdao, Beijing smashes Jilin

ZHUJI, China - CBA powerhouses the Guangdong Southern Tigers cruised past the Qingdao Eagles 103-90 and the Beijing Royal Fighters tamed the Jilin Northeast Tigers 93-73 in the first stage of the Chinese Basketball Association here on Monday.

Hu Mingxuan led Guangdong with 25 points, followed by 18 from Zhou Peng. Zhang Hao and Xu Jie had 14 points and 10 points respectively.

Zhao Tailong had a team high-22 points for Qingdao. Gao Shi'ao added 14 points.

In the other game, Beijing established a 21-8 with a 15-0 run early in the first quarter before expanding the advantage to 32 points at the break and never looked bacK

Trailing 24-31 after the first quarter, Qingdao went on a 12-0 run in the second to tie the score on 42-42 before Guangdong answered with an 8-0 run to lead the game 68-60 in the third period. The defending champions surged to an 8-2 run in the final quarter to expand the lead to 19 points, putting the game beyond reach.

In the other game, Beijing established a 21-8 with a 15-0 run early in the first quarter before expanding the advantage to 32 points at the break and never looked back.

Zhang Fan led Beijing with 17 points. Yu Changdong had 11 points and 16 rebounds for Beijing. Only three Jilin players scored double digits. Jiang Zewei had 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists, followed by 13 points from Jiang Yuxing.
