SZ delegation visits Vietnam to seek deeper cooperation

A Shenzhen delegation led by Mayor Qin Weizhong wrapped up a three-day visit to Vietnam on Tuesday, following meetings with officials from two Vietnamese cities and field trips to Shenzhen companies’ Vietnamese subsidiaries for the purpose of deepening cooperation.

During the visit, Qin met with Tran Sy Thanh, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and Le Tien Chau, secretary of the party committee of the city of Haiphong. Qin said Shenzhen, a modern city created during China's reform and opening up, enjoys close proximity to Vietnam, the city's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region. The two sides have huge potential for furthering cooperation based on their previous frequent exchanges and close industrial ties, he said.

In implementing the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee , Shenzhen will deepen cooperation with Vietnam in areas such as business, trade and investment, manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, culture and tourism, and seek cooperation in emerging industries such as new energy, 5G communications, digital economy and smart cities, Qin said.

The Shenzhen delegation also paid a visit to the China-Vietnam (Shenzhen-Haiphong) Economic and Trade Cooperation Park, Shenzhen's first overseas economic and trade cooperation zone, where they met with representatives of Shenzhen companies operating in the park to better understand their circumstances and business development in the area

Shenzhen also hopes to strengthen friendly exchanges between the two sides and build a higher-quality platform for economic and trade cooperation to contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the Two Corridors and One Economic Circle initiative and enhance regional economic cooperation between China and Vietnam, according to the Shenzhen mayor.

Tran and Le highly praised Shenzhen's development miracles during China's reform and opening up, and expressed their hopes to continue to strengthen close exchanges and cooperation in various fields, aiming to achieve mutual benefits and win-win development.

The Shenzhen delegation also paid a visit to the China-Vietnam (Shenzhen-Haiphong) Economic and Trade Cooperation Park, Shenzhen's first overseas economic and trade cooperation zone, where they met with representatives of Shenzhen companies operating in the park to better understand their circumstances and business development in the area.

The mayor expressed hopes for the Shenzhen companies to further expand their overseas business, enhance their international operating capability and achieve higher-quality development by making full use of the park as a platform and utilizing resources home and abroad.

During his stay in Vietnam, Qin also paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, a TCL factory and ZTE's Vietnam subsidiary.
