Property sales in Hong Kong up 17.1% in 2024

Hong Kong’s Land Registry recorded 67,979 sale and purchase agreements for all building units received for registration in 2024, up 17.1 percent from the previous year, according to official data released on Monday.

The total consideration for such agreements last year rose 11.8 percent from 2023 to HK$534.14 billion ($68.7 billion), Land Registry data showed.

The number of assignments of building units for 2024 was 79,073, a decrease of 8.5 percent compared to 2023 and down 8.0 percent compared with 2022.

The total consideration for these assignments for 2024 was HK$485.34 billion, also down 17.7 percent compared with 2023 and a drop of 29.8 percent when compared with 2022.

There were 4,422,060 land register searches last year.
