Kuwait, US form team to investigate soldier deaths in joint drill

KUWAIT CITY - Kuwait's Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday the formation of a joint technical team with the US side to investigate a Wednesday incident in a joint training exercise, which resulted in the death of two Kuwaiti soldiers and the injury of others.

According to a statement published by the official Kuwait News Agency, Kuwaiti Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah visited the accident site in the Al-Adarea area, northwestern Kuwait, on Thursday morning.

He emphasized that forming the team reflects the two countries' commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and security in operational training exercises.

On Wednesday, the Kuwaiti military announced the deaths of a first sergeant and a sergeant from the Kuwaiti land forces during a live-fire night drill as part of the joint exercise with US forces.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health confirmed that the injured soldiers have undergone emergency surgical procedures and are currently in stable condition.
