China will firmly support and participate in economic globalization, expand high-quality opening-up and collaborate with other economies to share opportunities and achieve joint development, said Liu Jieyi, spokesman for the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, on Monday.

Speaking at a news conference, Liu highlighted that China has been accelerating the construction of a new economic system, making progress in the Belt and Road Initiative and establishing platforms for promoting economic cooperation such as the China International Import Expo.

As the world's largest trading country and the second-largest importing market, China has become the biggest engine of global economic growth over the past year.

China aims to promote inclusive economic globalization and actively participate in global economic governance, demonstrating China's sense of responsibility, he added.

China will continue to improve the institutional mechanism for high-quality opening-up, steadily expand systematic opening-up, deepen reforms in the foreign trade system and management system for foreign investment and improve the high-quality construction of the BRI, promoting opening-up in a wider range of areas and in greater depth, he said.

Liu stated that China will further promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and drive economic globalization in an open and inclusive direction.

The CPPCC held consultation meetings relating to high-level opening-up in 2024, focusing on expanding systematic opening-up, optimizing the layout of regional opening-up and promoting the joint construction of the BRI.

The CPPCC also supervised the implementation of major opening-up initiatives in the 14th Five-Year Plan, providing targeted opinions, he added.

According to the CPPCC, political advisers have suggested creating an international first-class business environment in free trade areas and improving risk prevention and control systems. Many of these suggestions have been adopted by the relevant government departments and transformed into concrete policy measures.
