BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.38 percent to 3,348.44 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.01 percent lower at 10,503.66 points.
The combined turnover of the stock market stood at 1.15 trillion yuan (roughly $160 billion), down from 1.24 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to biotechnology, nuclear power and the steel industry emerged as top gainers, while those engaged in robotics and computing power-related sectors suffered big losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.09 percent to close at 2,101.88 points on Tuesday.
