Officials and entrepreneurs from Guangdong province on Monday discussed the local development of emerging industries such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, inviting Hong Kong enterprises to establish businesses across the border.
On Monday afternoon, over 100 officials and business representatives, including top executives from more than 60 Hong Kong institutions and companies, attended a promotional event held by Guangdong’s provincial commerce department to learn about the province’s latest developments in artificial intelligence, robotics, smart mobility and the low-attitude economy – referring to activities that occur at vertical heights below 1,000 meters.
Shuang Dehui, deputy director general of Guangdong's Department of Commerce, highlighted the province's leading position nationally in cutting-edge technology industries, citing scale, support capabilities, enterprise numbers, technology levels, and market share.

In 2024, Guangdong's core AI industry exceeded 220 billion yuan.
Shuang said the province hopes to embrace global partners more actively, with innovation and technology cooperation with Hong Kong playing a key role.
He said that Hong Kong possesses world-class research capabilities and international connectivity, while Guangdong has a solid industrial foundation and strong market business capabilities. The synergies from their complementary strengths are poised to enhance overall competitiveness through collaboration, added Shuang.
At the event, government officials from Shenzhen's Pingshan district and Huizhou's Zhongkai High-tech Zone introduced competitive industries from their regions and infrastructure plans designed to help them, as well as favorable policies on talent, housing, and industrial development.
Wang Xiaoxian, deputy director of the Investment Promotion Service Bureau in Pingshan District, said Pingshan is accelerating the pilot application of intelligent connected vehicles, facilitating coordination among intelligent vehicles, roads, cloud platforms, communication networks, and high-precision maps, eyeing a greater role in Shenzhen’s new energy vehicle (NEV) industry – which has already taken a lead in the global race.
At the same time, she said that the district already has comprehensive supportive policies in place, adding that "good projects will definitely take root and flourish in Pingshan".
Representatives from over 10 cutting-edge science and technology innovation enterprises across Guangdong also exchanged ideas on their latest technological achievements and business models, covering areas such as smart management, low-altitude aircraft, healthcare robots, and big data translation models, hoping to match with partners in Hong Kong.
