BEIJING - Liaoning Flying Leopards guard Guo Ailun said that his uncle and former head coach Guo Shiqiang's contribution cannot be described in just a few words or overshadowed by recent losses.
Guo Shiqiang resigned on Sunday with Liaoning having lost three out of four games since the CBA's restart.
He has done a lot for this team over these years and brought us to where we are today. Without him, our team cannot be here, not to mention the titles.

After his uncle's sudden departure, Guo Ailun, widely criticized for his performances during that spell, saw his form bounce back considerably, finishing with 32 and 31 points respectively in Liaoning's latest two victories.

"I have played many years in the CBA. I don't care about what other people say," he noted.
The Chinese international guard reserved high praise when discussing his uncle.
"He has done a lot for this team over these years and brought us to where we are today. Without him, our team cannot be here, not to mention the titles."
"We made history. We won the CBA title and National Games gold medal, which had never been achieved in the team's history," he commented, attributing Liaoning's progress over the last several years to his uncle.

"He also taught us how to be nice people, which will be of great value for us. His contribution cannot be described in just a few words," he added.

"As a player, I cannot say too much about his resignation. I hope he can have a good rest," Guo sobbed. "With a championship and 20-plus straight victories [in the 2017-18 season], we've already made history and been fearsome to opponents. His contribution cannot be denied by recent losses."
"All of us will be with him. We wish him a brighter future," Guo added.
