HK goods exports volume up 18.6% in August

HONG KONG - The volume of Hong Kong’s total goods exports rose by 18.6 percent year-on-year in August, according to data released by the city’s Census and Statistics Department on Monday.

The volume of goods imports for the month increased 21.0 percent compared to the same period last year.

Prices of goods exports also rose 6.1 percent, according to the Census and Statistics Department

Prices of goods exports and imports also rose 6.1 percent and 6.0 percent year-on-year for the month.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of goods exports increased 1.6 percent in the three-month period ending in August compared with the preceding quarter, while the volume of goods imports also increased by 2.0 percent, according to the data.

Comparing the first eight months of the year with the same period in 2020, the volume of goods exports increased by 24.3 percent, while that of goods imports rose 22.4 percent.

The prices of total exports of goods for the period also went up 3.8 percent, while that of goods imports rose 3.7 percent.
