Over 120 athletes compete at 6th Trampoline Asian Championships in HK

HONG KONG – Hong Kong is holding the 6th Trampoline Asian Championships, showcasing the city’s status as an international major sporting events hub.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the “BOC Life 6th Trampoline Asian Championships 2024” attracted over 120 top trampoline athletes from 12 Asian countries and regions competing to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The event, held at the Tsuen Wan Sports Centre, is title sponsored by BOC Group Life Assurance Company Ltd and organized by the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong, China

"We are thrilled to join hands with the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong, China, to host this tournament in Hong Kong for the first time, and see the Championships that brings together over 120 trampoline elites from 12 Asian countries and regions, offering unique platforms not only to showcase their exceptional trampoline skills and talent, but also enhance exchanges and collaborations across the participating Asian countries and regions, creating pinnacle experiences of trampoline sports in Asia,” said Chief Executive of BOC Life Wilson Tang.

During the opening ceremony, Liu Xing, a member of the Trampoline Technical Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation and Chairman of the Asian Gymnastics Union Trampoline Technical Committee, hosted the oath-taking ceremony for the athletes, coaches, and judges.

Pui Kwan Kay, the Honorary President of the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong, China, commissioned Chinese trampoline gymnasts and Olympic gold medalists He Wenna and Lu Chunlong as the event’s honorary ambassadors.

Sun Zhaomin, Deputy-Director General of Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR; and Simon Fung, Chairperson of The Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong, China also officiated at the opening ceremony.

Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, president of the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong, China, said the event is not only a grand celebration of trampoline sports but is also an important platform to strengthen exchanges and cooperation of trampoline sports in Asia.

“Athletes will showcase their skills and talents here while competing with outstanding players from across Asia, collectively elevating the level and quality of trampoline sports. The hosting of the Trampoline Asian Page 2 Championships once again demonstrates the status and strength of Hong Kong in the international sports arena,” he said.

The finals and award presentation ceremony of the championships will be held from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm on Sunday. The organizer is also providing “Dream Big Jump High” event at Tsuen Wan Plaza for members of the public to personally experience the fun of trampoline gymnastics.
