Two intercity bus routes between Shenzhen and Zhongshan will be launched when cross-sea highway project Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link officially opens to traffic later this month.

The bus routes will operate between two locations in Zhongshan — Zhongshan Expo Center and Zhongshan International Talent Hub — and Shenzhen’s Qianhai E-hub, with the cost of a one-way ticket expected to range from 15 yuan ($2.07) to 18 yuan. A total of 24 buses will be deployed along the routes.

Shenzhen has planned two such routes linking Qianhai E-hub with Shenzhen Bay checkpoint and the Coastal City commercial complex in Nanshan district

The route starting from Zhongshan Expo Center and Zhongshan International Talent Hub will operate from 6:20 am to 9:30 pm, while the route that begins service from Qianhai E-hub will run from 7 am to 9:30 pm.

Shuttle bus routes will be launched at both ends to transport passengers to and from other parts of the two cities.

Shenzhen has planned two such routes linking Qianhai E-hub with Shenzhen Bay checkpoint and the Coastal City commercial complex in Nanshan district. In Zhongshan, meanwhile, 16 routes from Zhongshan Expo Center will take passengers to other areas of the city.

Meanwhile, a new bus route from Shenzhen airport to Zhongshan Aviation Port will also be opened.

The latest development will further boost connectivity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promoting economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between cities in the region.

As one of the mega projects in the GBA, the 24-kilometer-long Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link consists of one underwater tunnel, two bridges and two artificial islands. Construction began in December 2016.

Once the link comes into service, travel time between Shenzhen and Zhongshan will be cut from two hours to about 30 minutes.
