China reiterates it greatly values Europe ties
By Wang Qingyun

China greatly values its relations with Europe, Lou Qinjian, spokesman for the third session of the 14th National People's Congress, said, adding that sound bilateral ties serve the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides and meet the common expectations of the world.

There is no conflict over fundamental interests or geopolitical conflict between China and Europe, two major constructive forces for peace and partners that contribute to each other's success, Lou said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Noting that China and Europe can complement each other's strengths and achieve mutual benefit in many areas through cooperation, Lou said economic and trade cooperation between both sides has not only boosted their own growth, but also contributed to the stability of global supply chains and the world economy.

China-Europe relations are not targeted at any third party, nor are they subjugated or controlled by any third party, Lou emphasized, calling on both sides to hold confidence and composure when developing the ties and provide more stability and certainty for the world.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union.

China is willing to work with the European side to implement the important consensus reached by their leaders, strengthen cooperation across various fields, and jointly address global challenges and oppose unilateralism and protectionism, he said.
