HK temperatures set to rise next week, Sheung Shui could see 30°C

Temperatures in Hong Kong are forecast to rise next week, with some areas in the New Territories seeing up to 30 degrees Celsius, as the monsoon gradually moderates, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.

The HKO said Wednesday that the current fine weather will continue until the weekend, with the city’s temperature ranging from 18°C to 26°C on Saturday.

By Monday, the mercury is expected to range from 20°C to 28°C in urban areas. In the New Territories, Sheung Shui and Ta Kwu Ling could see a maximum temperature of 30°C on Monday and Tuesday, according to the HKO.

“Hot during the day early to midweek next week,” it added.

The city enjoyed fine and dry weather on Wednesday, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 23°C.

The observatory said earlier that Hong Kong’s annual mean temperature was expected to remain above normal this year.

It added that 2024 was the city’s warmest year on record with the annual mean temperature reaching 24.8°C, 1.3 degrees above the normal level recorded from 1991 to 2020.
