Environment forum in Macao eyes innovation, green development

MACAO - The 2025 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum and Exhibition kicked off on Thursday at Macao's Cotai Expo, under the theme "Innovation and Green Development - Solutions to Build Beautiful Cities".

According to forum organizers, this year's exhibition covers an area of over 12,000 square meters, with five exhibition zones dedicated to carbon-neutral technologies, circular economy, new energy, and more.

During the event, three green forum sessions will be held, where experts and scholars from home and abroad were invited to explore opportunities for international exchanges and collaboration, focusing on topics such as green transformation development, technological innovation, and cross-regional environmental exchange and cooperation.

Running through Saturday, the forum and exhibition were hosted by the Macao Special Administrative Region government.

During the opening ceremony, Tam Vai-man, the SAR government's secretary for transport and public works, said that the SAR government is committed to advancing ecological civilization construction and promoting high-quality and sustainable social development.

He also expressed expectations for innovative environmental information and green business opportunities.

Statistics showed that the number of this year's exhibitors and attendees were up 17 percent from that of last year, who came from nearly 40 countries and regions.
