HONG KONG - The medical experts from the Chinese mainland said on Thursday that they had held in-depth and smooth exchange of views with Hong Kong medical staff and visited several public hospitals and treatment centers during their stay in Hong Kong.

They also expect closer communication with Hong Kong experts in the future to jointly combat the COVID-19 epidemic.

On Thursday, the experts paid a visit to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Hospital Authority and had a video conference with Chief Executive of HA, Tony Ko and other Hong Kong experts, as well as relevant departments in the Chinese mainland to discuss the anti-epidemic work in Hong Kong.

At present, the epidemic situation in Hong Kong is severe, with a high number of confirmed elderly patients who suffer from organ function decline in addition to underlying conditions, making their treatment a tough challenge, said Qin Tiehe, head of the mainland expert team, after the conference.

He said that mainland experts had shared a lot of experience and insights with Hong Kong experts regarding clinical treatment techniques, and that they will maintain close contact over COVID-19.
