A North Point resident said he was jogging at the promenade near the Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hotel when the lights suddenly went out.

“All the lights suddenly went out and everything was dark. But it lasted only for a second or two and the power was back again,” said Philip, who did not give his surname.

He said the traffic lights at the intersection of Java Road and Tong Shui Road also malfunctioned and the few eastbound motorists on Java Road slowed down to watch out for any cars coming from the Island Eastern Corridor.
