DUBAI - Poland's Iga Swiatek defeated China's Zheng Qinwen 6-3, 6-2 in the WTA1000 Dubai quarterfinals here on Thursday.

The two had faced off five times before, with Zheng Qinwen unable to secure a win in any of those encounters. Throughout the match, Zheng Qinwen struggled to gain the upper hand and was eventually ousted by Swiatek.

In the next round, Swiatek will compete with Russian Anna Kalinskaya for a spot in the final.
