WASHINGTON - The White House has stopped all funding to the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces, The Washington Post reported Wednesday, citing US and Palestinian officials.

The United States last stopped direct aid to the PA during Donald Trump's first term but continued to fund training and reform for the security forces, the report said.

The security forces' role is considered vital to the PA's ability to maintain law and order in both the Gaza Strip and the pockets of the Israeli-occupied West Bank still ruled by the PA, it said.

Anwar Rajab, spokesman for the Palestinian Authority security forces, told The Washington Post that the United States was considered a "big donor to the PA projects" that included security training for the forces.
