HONG KONG -The spectacular National Day fireworks display lit up the night sky of Victoria Harbour on Sunday after a five-year hiatus to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The fireworks extravaganza began at 9 pm and lasted approximately 23 minutes, with a total of 31,888 fireworks shells launched into the skies.

Hours before the show, the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade was already crowded with eager residents securing spots, while some tourists said they specifically came to Hong Kong to witness the fireworks display.
