US delegation to attend global security forum in Beijing

The United States Department of Defense will send a delegation to the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a high-level security conference set to kick off on Sunday, organizers said on Tuesday.

According to the forum's organizing committee, Cynthia Carras, a senior official for China policy at the US Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy, has registered on the official website of the forum and will lead the delegation.

Chad Sbragia, the US department's former deputy assistant secretary of defense for China, will also attend the forum as an expert.

Zhao Yufei, deputy secretary-general of the organizing committee, said as of Monday, more than 90 official delegations from countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation, including Russia, the US, Iran, Singapore, Nigeria, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

Among them are 22 senior officials at the defense-minister level or above and 14 representatives at the military chief-of-staff level.

In addition, more than 200 experts from more than 50 countries and regions have registered for the conference.
