CBA: Sichuan reverse Shandong, Zhejiang thrash Xinjiang

NANJING - Robert Golden's strong performance helped the Sichuan Blue Whales overturn the Shandong Heroes 105-95, while the Zhejiang Golden Bulls trounced the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 107-87 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League on Monday.

Shandong showed a small advantage in the beginning, while the visiting team started to get stagnant in the second quarter as Sichuan dashed out to a 15-2 scoring run led by Golden.

As Golden's three-pointer helped Sichuan expand the lead to double-digit, Shandong tried hard to nibble away the lead through attacking the rim but Golden's excellent performance on free-throw line and behind the arc held off Shandong's comeback efforts.

Facing the top seed of the league, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls trailed by five points in the first quarter, while Reginald Perry's accurate mid-range shots helped the home team quickly bounce back and build a six-point lead over the Xinjiang Flying Tigers as the first half expired

Golden notched a game-high 42 points, plus seven assists for Sichuan, with Jing Hanyi and Yu Xiaoyong adding 14 points and 13 points apiece. Both Jia Cheng and Marial Shayok collected 21 points for Shandong.

Facing the top seed of the league, Zhejiang trailed by five points in the first quarter, while Reginald Perry's accurate mid-range shots helped the home team quickly bounce back and build a six-point lead over Xinjiang as the first half expired.

Experiencing a see-saw game in the third quarter, Zhejiang players started to widen the gap via consecutive three-pointers and finally nailed down the victory.

Six players scored in double-digits for Zhejiang, led by Jarmar Gulley's 23 points. Qi Lin had a team-high 18 points for Xinjiang.

Elsewhere, the Tianjin Pioneers rallied past the Nanjing Monkey Kings 122-105, the Jilin Northeast Tigers edged the Zhejiang Lions 98-92, the Shanxi Loongs routed the Jiangsu Dragons 105-86, and the Shenzhen Aviators stormed the Beijing Royal Fighters 111-91.
