ISLAMABAD — Pakistan and Iran have mutually agreed that ambassadors of both countries may return to their respective posts by Jan 26.
The decision was made following the telephone conversation between the Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, a joint press statement of Pakistan and Iran said on Monday.

It added that Amir-Abdollahian will also undertake a visit to Pakistan on Jan 29 at the invitation of Jilani.

Pakistan's foreign ministry last Wednesday announced the recall of its ambassador from Iran, saying that the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan who was in Iran may not return for the time being.
It also announced to suspend all high-level visits that were ongoing or were planned between Pakistan and Iran.
The situation unfolded after Pakistani children were killed and three girls were injured due to Iran's violation of Pakistan's airspace on Tuesday.
Pakistani caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said on Friday evening that it is in the interest of both Pakistan and Iran to take steps to restore relations to where they were before the recent tension.

Pakistan would welcome and reciprocate all positive measures from the Iranian side, said Kakar.
