Shenzhen is leading the integration of sustainable transportation technologies across multiple domains. The city has made notable progress in deploying electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles for land, marine, and aerial travel.

In Yantian district's Dameisha Coastal Park (盐田区大梅沙海滨公园), an eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft has started operations, showcasing advances in urban air mobility.

In Nanshan Science and Technology Park (南山科技园), hydrogen fuel cell buses are now providing transport services for employees at major tech firms, including Huawei and Tencent. Additionally, the “Huben No.1 (虎贲一号),” a hydrogen-powered autonomous vessel, is pioneering zero-carbon maritime transport.

In the first half of this year, Shenzhen reported a fleet of 1.08 million new energy vehicles, with the new car market penetration rate reaching 77.4 percent in June. The city is also enhancing its capabilities in electric marine vessels through strategic partnerships aimed at advancing electric and hydrogen maritime technologies.

Shenzhen has implemented a robust policy framework for low-altitude aviation, including 249 established takeoff and landing sites.

Plans are also underway to expand this infrastructure to over 1,000 sites by 2025, facilitating a range of low-altitude operations.
