DUBAI - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday dismissed claims that it had supplied warring parties in Sudan with arms and ammunition.

"The UAE does not take sides in the current conflict engulfing Sudan, and seeks an end to the conflict and calls for respecting Sudan's sovereignty," UAE's official news agency WAM quoted Foreign Ministry official Afra Al Hameli as saying.

Afra Al Hameli said the UAE had not supplied arms and ammunition to any of the warring parties in Sudan since the outbreak of their conflict in April.

The UAE will continue to support all efforts aimed at bringing security to Sudan and enhancing its stability and prosperity until a ceasefire is achieved, she was quoted as saying.
