HONG KONG - President Xi Jinping’s legitimate concern over Hong Kong’s pandemic situation is out of care and support for the city, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said on Tuesday, referring to remarks the president made after hearing Lam’s 2020 Work Report last week.
In a video call on Jan 27 in which HK CE Carrie Lam presented her report, President Xi Jinping said he was "very concerned and worried" about the fourth wave of coronavirus infections occurring in Hong Kong
With the nation’s firm backing, the Hong Kong government will redouble its efforts to defeat the pandemic, Lam told reporters before meeting with her Executive Council. The central government has pledged to expedite delivery of mainland-developed vaccines to Hong Kong, she said.
In a video call on Jan 27 in which Lam presented her report, Xi said he was "very concerned and worried" about the fourth wave of coronavirus infections occurring in Hong Kong. He pledged the central government’s full support and called for confidence and cohesion of Hong Kong society to combat the virus.

Providing vaccines is among many actions the central government has taken or will take to help Hong Kong beat the virus.
A temporary local hospital for treating COVID-19 patients, built with the help of the central government in just four months, was completed on Jan 20.
The North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Center has capacity for 816 negative pressure beds to treat infectious patients. The complex comprises six inpatient buildings and a medical center and covers a land area of 30,000 square meters.
