HK sees slight decrease with 12 new virus cases, 4 local

HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported 12 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including four that were locally transmitted, pushing the city’s tally to 11,409.

The sole untraceable case involved an 88-year-old man who developed a fever on Wednesday, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said in a statement.

The retiree lived at Ping Sin House, Ping Tin Estate in Lam Tin, a building which had previously been subject to mandatory testing. The CHP earlier said that the man dined at Chiu Fook Cuisine, a restaurant at Kai Tin Shopping Centre, between March 8 to 14.

The restaurant was visited by other two confirmed patients on March 10. Nine of its workers were under quarantine.

The imported cases on Tuesday included four from Pakistan, two from the Philippines and one each from Indonesia and France.

An 89-year-old chronically ill man, who was hospitalized on Jan 5, succumbed to the disease on Tuesday afternoon, the Hospital Authority said in a statement. He was the 204th fatality linked to the coronavirus in the city.
